You must have heard Blockchain networks like Ethereum, Cardano, Polkadot, Avalanche … List goes on forever. But today I am going to talk about a project which is so closed to my heart with few reservations though that I have staked its coins for the next 8 years so that I do not sell it in the rush mad crypto market!
The coin, developed by the Dfinity Foundation, a non-profit in Zurich, Switzerland, is a hot competitor/complementing at the same time to other existing blockchain networks.
Internet Computer (ICP) is a digital token that runs on its own proprietary protocol called Internet Computer Protocol, which is supposed to let anyone build software or publish content on the Internet without using services from big cloud companies like Azure, Amazon, Google. They have years of research into it and also have their own specific computer hardware it runs on.
A few of my personal concerns with the project is it is centralized, private source code and it requires specific hardware which is only supplied by the foundation itself. Still being an engineer decided to invest a little bit into the marvelous technology/project but they should fully open source the blockchain code for the community. Period.
